Demo Day 49
After another long hiatus, Ctesiphon is back. This time, I have a consistent idea of where I want to go with the game. I had a big loss of motivation when boomer-shooters really became popular as there wasn't really a distinct vision for the game. That has now changed, a solid concept has taken root in my brain that I am very happy with.
As of late last year I added light-mapping to the editor, allowing me to do the whole level design process in a single program. Though it is buggy and will need work, it's now much less frustrating and time consuming to make changes to the level geometry and lightmapping is done with just a few sliders and a button. The plan for the remainder of the year is to focus on blocking out levels and making assets. The programming for the game is mostly done, at least all of the "game engine" parts are done including implementation of a simple scripting language with MyBASIC. However, there is still a big list of enemies, items, and statics that I need to make as well as a suite of levels. Ideally I will aim to release sometime next year but we'll see how it shakes out.
Happy fragging! Enjoy the demo!
