Rocket Science Update

New playable demo! Highlights:

  • New Enemy: A variant of the Mech armed with Homing Missiles and slightly different behavior, trying to keep their distance
  • New Weapon: The Gyrobuster is a fully automatic rocket launcher with a smartgun-style alternate fire mode that can allow the fired gyrojets to track around corners.
  • New Level: The Multiport should prove a much bigger challenge, encounters should present a significant jump in difficulty compared to earlier maps.
  • Difficulty settings have now been fully implemented for all maps. A bit like Doom, higher difficulties have less items and more enemies
  • Replaced the music tracks in maps 2 and 3 with free tracks by Jens Vide: https://jens-vide.itch.io/
  • Handling for keybindings has been improved so that each can now individually be reset to defaults and any newly-added keybindings will actually be set to default instead of just being unbound
  • Proper menus for saving and loading
  • Pressing an end-level button will now autosave the game.

I’m naturally behind schedule but still intending to release the game on Steam by the end of the year. This is likely to be the last demo with every map present as from here it’s mostly spit-polish and easter eggs so future demos will probably only have the tutorial and a selection of two more levels.
